Terms of use
The terms for using the HidayahHub app and this website.
Last updated:
1.These terms
These terms apply to the HidayahHub mobile app (the "app") and the website at hidayahhub.com (the "site"), operated by HidayahHub (hidayahhub.com) ("we", "us"). By using the app or the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2.What the app does
HidayahHub is a companion for personal religious practice. It provides prayer times and alerts, prayer tracking, a Qaza (make-up prayer) tracker, a Quran reader with fixed-line mushaf pages and recitation, a daily Hadith, a Qibla compass, a Tasbeeh counter, a calendar of Islamic occasions, tools for Ramadan, Eid, Hajj and Umrah, duas, the 99 names, calculators for Zakat, Fitrana and Qurbani, and a moderated community chat. Some of these appear as their content is reviewed and published. The app is available in English and Arabic.
The app is free to download and the features described on this site are free to use. Optional purchases or donations may be offered inside the app. They are never required, are clearly priced before you confirm, and are handled by the app store or the payment provider under their own terms. Features may be added, changed or removed over time.
3.Religious content: estimates, not a fatwa
Figures and texts in HidayahHub are estimates and references. They are not a fatwa and are not a substitute for a qualified scholar.
- Prayer times are calculated estimates and can differ from your local mosque or authority. Where they differ, follow your local authority.
- Qaza counts and other calculated figures are worked out from what you enter and from settings chosen by the app's administrators. They are an aid to your own record keeping.
- The Qibla direction depends on your device's sensors and can be affected by nearby metal or magnetic interference.
- Quran text is taken from verified editions, and hadith are shown with their grading, narrator and source. If you believe you have found an error, please tell us at salam@hidayahhub.com.
For a ruling on your own situation, consult a qualified scholar.
4.Guest use and optional accounts
You do not need an account to use the app. If you choose to create one for backup, you are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for activity under your account.
You can export your data and delete your account at any time from inside the app. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
5.Acceptable use
Please do not:
- use the app or site in any way that breaks the law;
- attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the app, the site or the services behind them;
- copy, resell or redistribute the app or its content except as the law or the relevant licence allows;
- post anything in the community chat that is abusive, hateful, misleading, commercial, or that shares someone's personal information. Messages can be reported and removed, and a member who breaks these rules can be blocked from the chat.
6.Ownership and content
The HidayahHub name, logo, design and software belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial use.
Religious texts, recitations and fonts shown in the app come from their respective publishers and are used with attribution or under licence. Each source is named in the app on the screen where it is used. The records you create in the app remain yours.
7.Availability and warranty
We work to keep the app accurate and available, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that alerts will always be delivered on time, since delivery depends on your device, its settings and your network.
8.Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app or the site, or for loss of data stored only on your device. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9.Ending your use
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it, and you can delete your account from inside the app. We may suspend or close an account that is used to break these terms or to harm the service or other people.
10.App stores
The app is distributed through third-party app stores. Their own terms also apply to your download and use of the app, and they are not responsible for the app or its content.
11.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version will always be on this page with its effective date, and significant changes will be announced in the app.
12.Governing law
These terms are governed by the law that applies where the operator of HidayahHub is established, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections where you live. If you have a complaint, please write to us first at salam@hidayahhub.com, and we will try to resolve it with you directly.
