There are 4 ways to increase trust.
Trust, that is, complete trust in Allah, is an important pillar of faith. It is the light that gives the believer hope in the darkness. The heart’s state keeps us calm in the world’s troubles, as we trust our Lord to choose what’s best. There are 4 ways to increase trust.
Developing trust in Allah and then strengthening it is not a one-day task but a continuous spiritual struggle. There are 4 ways to increase trust. Let us know these four important ways to make this beautiful journey easier, through which we can deepen trust in our hearts:
1. Contemplation on the names and attributes of Allah
The 99 beautiful names of Allah Almighty are enough to create certainty and trust in our hearts. When we consider that Allah is Ar-Rahman (Most Gracious), Al-Hafiz (Protector), Al-Khabir (All-Knowing), and Al-Razzaq (Provider of sustenance), then our hearts are satisfied that the Lord, who is so powerful and merciful, will never leave us alone.
For example, when someone is worried about earning a living, if he only thinks about Al-Razzaq, then his heart finds peace. Similarly, when we cannot find a solution to a problem in life, we remember Al-Fattah (The Opener of the Way).
This contemplation teaches us that no power in the world is equal to the power of Allah. And when the Lord is the one who is responsible for everything, why should we worry? There are 4 ways to increase trust.
2. Adhering to Tawheed
Tawakkul is based on “Tawheed.” When we believe in our hearts that only Allah is the one who will do everything, we stop hoping for others. We understand that no one can benefit or harm except Allah.
Often, we start to trust people, things or circumstances in an imperceptible way in our hearts. This process is where trust begins to weaken. Therefore, it is important to remind ourselves again and again:
“Ayyak na’bud wa ayyak nasta’een”
(You alone we worship, and You alone we seek help from.)
Read this verse by heart, understand it, and act upon it. Then see how trust develops.
3. Entrust all your affairs to Allah.
The real meaning of trust is that a person should try but leave the results to Allah. We must learn that we do not control everything. And what is not under our control, entrust it to a being who is the best planner—this is the real wisdom. When we accept from our hearts that every matter is in the hands of Allah, our hearts find peace, and this peace is the best sign of trust. There are 4 ways to increase trust.
4. Having a good opinion of Allah
Good opinion means having a good opinion of Allah. Believing that if any trouble has come today, it is also good for us from Allah. We should not make decisions with our limited intellect but rather trust in the Lord, who knows the state of hearts and also knows the future.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Allah says, I am according to what My servant thinks.”
(Sahih Bukhari)
If we think Allah’s actions are good, then Allah will do good for us. And if we fall into doubt, then anxiety will arise in our hearts, which will destroy trust. There are 4 ways to increase trust.
Finally…
Trust is not something we say with our mouths. It is a state of the heart, a practical way of life. It teaches us humility and turns us away from the perishable things of this world and towards the Lord of Glory.
If we make these four practices a part of our lives:
Contemplation of Allah’s attributes
Strengthening of monotheism
Entrusting affairs to Allah
Having a good opinion of Allah
Then, God willing, our trust will grow stronger, and we will find comfort and guidance in every trial of life.
O Allah! Grant us the wealth of perfect trust and teach us to rely on yourselves. Amen. There are 4 ways to increase trust. End
