And those who supported this curse? They were the ten dwarfs.

1. The dwarf of selfishness

The dwarf of selfishness emerges first. He only thinks about himself.

“What about me? I am getting my bread, right?”

This thought makes him indifferent to the fact that others are starving or someone is being oppressed. This dwarf can be a corrupt government official in society, a businessman who considers himself everything, or an individual who only thinks about his life and ignores everyone else.

“And when they meet those who believe, they say, “We believe.” When confronted by their devils, they affirm, “Yes, we stand by your side.” (Al-Baqarah: 14)

These hypocrites are the greatest danger to society. They deceive people by pretending to be the bearers of truth. The role of this dwarf in “A Curse and 10 Dwarfs” is crucial because it hides inner filth under the guise of outward goodness.

3. The sow of lies

This sow lies in the morning, spreads lies during the day, and boasts of its lies at night.

4. The sowing of fear

This sow locks every door. It neither speaks the truth nor stands up against the oppressor. It only keeps on being afraid.

Fear, when it is from anyone apart from Allah, eats away faith. The Quran says, “Indeed, those who say, ‘Our Lord is Allah, then they stand upright…” (Fussilat: 30)

But this sow retreats from every field and increases the curse of silence.

5. Dwarf of Convenience

This dwarf says:

“Come on! Let what is happening happen… What about us?”

This dwarf considers it wise to tolerate oppression. This dwarf wraps silence in arguments. In “A Curse and 10 Dwarfs,” his job is to justify the oppressor.

6. Dwarf of Greed

The wealth of others always shines in his eyes. He is ready to sell everything, even faith.

8. The Dwarf of Flattery

9. The Dwarf of Hatred

This dwarf hates the religion, language, race, and region of others. His heart is full of malice, envy, and prejudice.

It is said in the Quran:

“O mankind! We have made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another” (Al-Hujurat: 13)

But this dwarf denies this verse. In “A Curse and 10 Dwarfs,” his job is to divide the nation.

10. Dwarf of ignorance

This dwarf is the smallest but the most dangerous. He has neither knowledge nor intellect. But he makes a lot of noise.

This dwarf considers every wrong thing to be true and spreads it without research. A large number of today’s social media users represent this dwarf.

Different forms of silence:

This curse, i.e., silence, sometimes comes in the form of the government, sometimes in the form of the media, sometimes in the courts, and sometimes in our personal lives.

When the rulers commit injustice and the people remain silent, that nation goes towards destruction.

When the media lies and hides the truth, it becomes a curse.

When society conceals goodness and promotes evil, the result is not silence, but cowardice.

Where do we stand?

If we look in the mirror today, we will see a reflection of ourselves:

We will see selfishness.

Hypocrisy will be glimpsed.

There will be shadows of lies.

There will be a garment of fear.

The glow of greed will be in the heart.

The rust of insensitivity will have crept into the conscience.

Flattery will be played.

The poison of hatred will have spread.

The echo of ignorance will be heard.

Pain is replaced by indifference.

Truth is replaced by flattery.

Love is replaced by hatred.

Knowledge is replaced by ignorance.

Above all, voice replaces silence.

When we speak out against oppression, stand with the truth, and support the oppressed, only then will “One Curse and 10 Dwarfs” end.
